Flowers

Ice Garden

The process of freezing flowers for photography was new to me during Covid, one of those things you discover without really trying. I use distilled water and carefully place the flowers on a thin layer of ice in an intentional, pleasing design. I add water in layers, sometimes covering the flowers completely and sometimes leaving some petals uncovered. The texture in the ice adds an exciting element to the composition. It means some trial and error, but the results can be magical. Over time, I have learned that not all flowers are amenable to freezing.
